What’s in the Box

  • ColaBox L2 Plus
  • Bluetooth voice remote
  • HDMI cable
  • Power adapter
  • User manual

Step 1 — Connect the HDMI cable

Connect one end of the included HDMI cable to the HDMI output on the ColaBox L2 Plus and the other end to an available HDMI port on your television.

Make a note of which port you use — HDMI 1, HDMI 2 or HDMI 3 — because you will need to select that same input on the TV in the next step.

Step 2 — Connect power

Plug the included power adapter into the L2 Plus and connect it to a wall outlet.

Use the supplied power adapter rather than trying to power the box from a TV USB port. TV USB ports do not always provide enough power for a full-size streaming device, especially under load.

Setup tip: If the box restarts unexpectedly or does not power on reliably, check the power connection before changing any software settings.

Step 3 — Select the correct TV input

Turn on the television and use the Source or Input button on the TV remote.

Select the HDMI port where you connected the ColaBox L2 Plus. Once the correct input is selected, the setup screen should appear.

If the TV shows “No Signal,” the first thing to check is the HDMI input. For example, if the box is connected to HDMI 2, the TV also needs to be set to HDMI 2.

Step 4 — Complete the on-screen setup

Follow the prompts on screen to finish the initial setup. You will normally be asked to choose your language, connect to a network and pair the Bluetooth remote.

Once those steps are complete, the L2 Plus is ready for normal use.

Connect to Wi-Fi or Ethernet

The ColaBox L2 Plus supports both dual-band Wi-Fi and wired Gigabit Ethernet.

If you are using Wi-Fi, select your home network during setup and enter the Wi-Fi password. If your router is reasonably close to the TV, the 5GHz band is usually the better choice for higher-bandwidth streaming.

If a network cable can reach the box, you can connect it directly to the Gigabit Ethernet port instead.

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable from your router or network switch to the Ethernet port on the L2 Plus.
  2. Wait a few seconds for the network connection to be detected.
  3. The box will normally switch to the wired connection automatically.

Why use Ethernet? A wired connection removes Wi-Fi signal strength and wireless interference from the equation. If your router is close enough, Ethernet is the simplest way to build a stable permanent setup for your main TV.

Set up optical audio

The L2 Plus includes an optical SPDIF output for connecting directly to a compatible soundbar or AV receiver.

If you normally use TV speakers or audio through HDMI, you do not need to change anything. Use the optical connection only if it suits your audio setup.

To connect optical audio:

  1. Connect an optical cable from the optical SPDIF port on the L2 Plus to the optical input on your soundbar or receiver.
  2. Open Settings → Display & Sound → Audio Output on the box.
  3. Select the appropriate digital or passthrough audio option.
  4. Set the soundbar or receiver to its optical input.
No sound? Check the audio output setting on the L2 Plus first. A correctly connected optical cable will not produce sound if the box is still set to another audio output.

The optical output supports Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus passthrough with compatible audio equipment.

Pair the Bluetooth remote

The included voice remote pairs over Bluetooth during the initial setup.

If you need to pair it again later, hold Home and Back together for about three seconds until the indicator begins flashing.

If the remote does not respond:

  • Replace the batteries.
  • Move closer to the L2 Plus and try pairing again.
  • Move the box out from behind the television or from inside a closed cabinet.

Install the apps you use

The ColaBox L2 Plus runs Android 14 with access to the Google Play Store.

Sign in with your Google account, open the Play Store and install the apps you want to use on the box.

The L2 Plus includes 64 GB of internal storage, giving you room for a large app library. If you need additional storage, the box also supports TF card expansion.

No signal on the TV

If the TV shows a blank screen or “No Signal,” check these in order:

  1. Make sure the TV is set to the correct HDMI input.
  2. Disconnect and reconnect both ends of the HDMI cable.
  3. Try a different HDMI port on the television.
  4. Try another HDMI cable if one is available.
  5. Confirm the L2 Plus is connected to the supplied power adapter.

A factory reset should not be the first step for a no-signal problem. HDMI input, cable and power are much more useful things to check first.

Buffering or network dropouts

If playback buffers or the network connection drops, start by isolating the network connection before changing other settings.

  • Try Ethernet if possible. If the problem disappears on a wired connection, the issue was likely related to Wi-Fi.
  • Use 5GHz Wi-Fi when the router is nearby.
  • Check the connection speed near the TV. For 4K playback, aim for at least 25 Mbps download speed.
  • Restart the router and the L2 Plus.
Run your speed test where the TV and ColaBox actually sit. A speed test beside the router can look excellent while the Wi-Fi connection across the room or through several walls is much weaker.

If an app freezes

If one app becomes slow or stops responding while the rest of the box works normally, start with that app rather than resetting the whole device.

  1. Open Settings → Apps.
  2. Select the affected app.
  3. Choose Clear Cache.
  4. Open the app again.

If the problem continues, uninstall and reinstall the app.

Factory reset

If you have already tried the relevant troubleshooting steps and still need to reset the L2 Plus, go to:

Settings → Device Preferences → Reset → Factory Reset

A factory reset removes your accounts, installed apps and device settings, so use it as the final troubleshooting step rather than the first.

Setup Checklist

  • HDMI cable connected to the TV
  • Included power adapter connected
  • TV switched to the correct HDMI input
  • Wi-Fi or Ethernet connected
  • Bluetooth remote paired
  • Optical audio configured if you use a soundbar or receiver
  • Google account signed in if you want to install apps
Should I use Wi-Fi or Ethernet?

Both work. Wi-Fi is easier if the router is not close to the TV, while Gigabit Ethernet is a good choice for a permanent setup when a network cable can reach the L2 Plus.

Do I need to turn Wi-Fi off when using Ethernet?

No. Once the Ethernet cable is connected and detected, the L2 Plus normally switches to the wired connection automatically.

Why is there no sound from my optical connection?

Check that your soundbar or receiver is set to its optical input, then open Settings → Display & Sound → Audio Output on the L2 Plus and confirm the correct digital or passthrough option is selected.

What should I do if the TV says “No Signal”?

Start with the HDMI input. Make sure the TV is set to the same HDMI port where the box is connected, then check the HDMI cable, try another port and confirm the power adapter is connected.

How do I pair the remote again?

Hold Home and Back together for about three seconds until the indicator flashes, then follow the pairing prompt on screen.

How much internet speed do I need for 4K?

Aim for at least 25 Mbps download speed at the location where the ColaBox and TV are being used. Actual requirements can vary depending on the service and network conditions.

Should I factory-reset the box if an app freezes?

No. Clear the app cache first, then reinstall that specific app if necessary. Factory reset should be reserved for problems that cannot be solved with the more specific steps above.
