How to Set Up the ColaStick V1 Plus
Everything you need to get the ColaStick V1 Plus running — from the one-minute first-time setup to remote pairing, Wi-Fi, power and the fixes for the problems people actually run into.
What’s in the Box
- ColaStick V1 Plus
- Smart voice remote
- Type-C power cable
- HDMI extension cable
- User manual
Step 1 — Connect the stick to HDMI
Plug the ColaStick V1 Plus into an available HDMI port on your television.
If the HDMI port is recessed, close to the wall or difficult to reach, use the included HDMI extension cable rather than forcing the stick into position.
Make a note of which HDMI input you use. If you connect the stick to HDMI 2, you will need to select HDMI 2 on the television.
Step 2 — Connect power
Connect the Type-C power cable to the ColaStick V1 Plus, then connect the other end to a USB power source.
A TV USB port may work, but a standard USB wall adapter is generally more reliable. Some televisions do not provide enough power through USB when the stick is under load.
Step 3 — Select the correct HDMI input
Turn on the television and press the Source or Input button on the TV remote.
Select the same HDMI port where you connected the stick.
If the ColaStick is connected to HDMI 2, for example, the television must also be set to HDMI 2.
Step 4 — Complete the on-screen setup
Follow the instructions on screen to finish the initial setup:
- Choose your language.
- Connect to your Wi-Fi network.
- Pair the Bluetooth remote when prompted.
Once those steps are complete, the ColaStick V1 Plus is ready to use.
Pair the Bluetooth remote
The remote normally pairs automatically during first-time setup.
If you need to pair it again later, keep the remote within about one metre of the stick and hold Home and Back together for approximately three seconds until the indicator light begins flashing.
If the remote stops working, check the stick position first
A weak or unresponsive remote does not always mean there is something wrong with the remote itself.
Many televisions contain metal shielding in the rear panel. If the ColaStick is plugged directly into an HDMI port behind that panel, the television can sit between the stick's Bluetooth antenna and the remote.
The easiest fix is to use the included HDMI extension cable.
- Disconnect the stick from the TV.
- Connect the HDMI extension cable to the television.
- Connect the ColaStick to the extension cable.
- Position the stick so it is no longer sitting flat against the back of the TV.
If the remote still does not respond:
- Pair it again using Home + Back for about three seconds.
- Replace the batteries.
- Try pairing again while standing close to the stick.
If the remote works when you are close to the TV but becomes unreliable from the sofa, weak batteries are also worth checking.
If the stick restarts on its own
Unexpected restarting is often related to the power source.
Some TV USB ports provide enough power when the stick is idle but not enough when it is working harder during playback. That is why a power problem may appear only after you start watching something.
Try this first: connect the Type-C cable to a standard USB wall adapter instead of the TV USB port.
If the restarting stops, the USB power supply was the cause.
No signal on the TV
If the television displays “No Signal” or a blank screen, work through these checks in order:
- Confirm that the TV is on the correct HDMI input.
- Make sure the ColaStick is receiving power.
- Disconnect and reconnect the HDMI connection.
- Try another HDMI port on the television.
- If you are using the HDMI extension cable, temporarily connect the stick directly to the TV to rule out the cable.
The HDMI input is the first thing worth checking. It is easy to mistake an input problem for a problem with the stick itself.
Buffering or Wi-Fi dropouts
For 4K playback, aim for at least 25 Mbps download speed at the location where the TV and ColaStick are being used.
The location matters. Testing your speed while standing beside the router does not tell you what connection the stick is actually receiving across the room or through several walls.
- Use 5GHz when the router is reasonably close to the television.
- Try 2.4GHz when the router is farther away. It is slower on paper, but a strong 2.4GHz connection may be more stable than a weak 5GHz signal.
- Restart both the router and the ColaStick.
- Check household usage. Several people streaming or downloading at the same time can reduce the bandwidth available to the stick.
If buffering continues consistently even though the connection near the TV is healthy, contact support so the issue can be checked further.
Connect Bluetooth headphones
You can connect compatible Bluetooth headphones directly to the ColaStick V1 Plus.
- Open Settings → Remotes & Accessories → Add Accessory.
- Put your headphones into pairing mode.
- Select the headphones when they appear on screen.
This is useful for watching at night without sending audio through the TV speakers.
Install the apps you use
The ColaStick V1 Plus runs Android 14 with access to the Google Play Store.
Sign in with your Google account, open the Play Store and install the services you want to use on the stick.
If an app freezes
If one app stops responding while the rest of the system works normally, troubleshoot that app first.
- Open Settings → Apps.
- Select the affected app.
- Choose Clear Cache.
- Open the app again.
Clearing the cache does not normally remove your account information. Clearing app data is different and may sign you out.
If the problem continues, uninstall and reinstall the affected app.
Factory reset is the last step
If the specific troubleshooting steps above do not solve the problem, you can reset the ColaStick through:
Settings → Device Preferences → Reset → Factory Reset
This erases the installed apps, accounts and settings on the stick and returns it to its original setup state.

How long does the ColaStick V1 Plus take to set up?
The basic physical setup takes about a minute: connect HDMI, connect power, select the correct TV input and follow the on-screen prompts for Wi-Fi and remote pairing.
Why did my remote suddenly stop responding?
If the stick is plugged directly behind the television, the TV's back panel may be interfering with the Bluetooth connection. Connect the included HDMI extension cable and move the stick away from the rear panel, then test the remote again.
How do I pair the remote again?
Keep the remote close to the stick and hold Home and Back together for approximately three seconds until the indicator light flashes.
Why does my ColaStick restart during playback?
Check the power source first. Some television USB ports do not provide enough power under load. Connect the Type-C power cable to a standard USB wall adapter and test again.
Should I use 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi?
Use 5GHz when the router is relatively close because it generally offers higher bandwidth. If the router is farther away or separated by several walls, a stronger 2.4GHz connection may be more stable.
How much internet speed do I need for 4K?
Aim for at least 25 Mbps download speed near the television. Test from the location where the ColaStick is actually being used rather than beside the router.
Can I connect Bluetooth headphones?
Yes. Go to Settings → Remotes & Accessories → Add Accessory, put your headphones into pairing mode and select them from the list.
Should I factory-reset the stick if the remote stops working?
No. First use the HDMI extension cable to move the stick away from the TV's back panel, replace the remote batteries and try pairing again. A factory reset will not solve a physical Bluetooth signal obstruction.
